Make International Creative Exchange Possible This AusArt Day

This AusArt Day, 22 October, Belloo is aiming to raise $5,000 to support the people, relationships and opportunities that make our work possible — including international creative exchange.

Meet Kay Watanabe, a Japanese visual artist and translator.

Cultural exchange is at the heart of some of Belloo’s most ambitious work. Collaborating with artists across Australia, Japan and New Zealand has brought together different languages, cultural perspectives and artistic practices, creating opportunities to experiment, challenge familiar approaches and develop new forms of performance.

Through projects including SAND (Australia, 2018), House in the Dunes (Japan, 2020) and AKIRUNO (Japan, 2021), artists have shared techniques and explored new ways of combining theatre, movement, writing and digital media.

Hear from Kay about her translation work with Belloo and why international creative exchange needs time and space to develop.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
