Bring Stories Out of the Shadows This AusArt Day

This AusArt Day, 22 October, Belloo is aiming to raise $5,000 to support the people, relationships and opportunities that make our work possible — including bringing stories rarely seen on Australian stages out of the shadows.

Meet Kristina Olsson, author of the award-winning memoir Boy, Lost.

In 2022, Belloo adapted Kristina's memoir into a stage production, which premiered at Queensland Theatre Company. The production brought to the stage the deeply personal story of a boy snatched from his mother's arms and their long journey back to one another.

Boy, Lost was a finalist for Best Independent Production, Best Emerging Artist (Morgan Francis) and Best Ensemble, and won the Lord Mayor’s Award for Best New Australian Work (Katherine Lyall-Watson) at the 2022 Matilda Awards.

Kristina reflects on the experience of seeing her words brought to life on stage and the importance of making space for stories that might otherwise remain unheard.
