Workshop: Where Sound Meets Story with Menaka Thomas

Workshop: Where Sound Meets Story with Menaka Thomas

Discover how cultural identity and environment shape personal sound in this unique two-part workshop with Australian–Indian artist Menaka Thomas, presented as part of the Darwin Festival.

Drawing on traditional vocal techniques, particularly from Carnatic music, alongside a contemporary creative practice, Where Sound Meets Story invites participants to uncover the unique “sound” of their own heritage and learn how to express it in fresh, resonant ways.

No singing experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to explore something new.

Session 1: Saturday 18 July | 10.00 am – 12.00 pm (Online)
Session 2: Sunday 9 August | 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm (AANT Centre Rehearsal Room)
